Imagine elderly women, who would otherwise be alone on Mother's Day, dressed in their Sunday best, arriving at the city's finest hotel. They see tables bedecked in flowers, the room decorated beautifully, music happily playing, and a lovely spring lunch prepared for their enjoyment. The scene is completed with a variety of entertainment, gifts for each lady, many door prizes to be won, and Mother's Day cards made by school children from across Central Pennsylvania.
I Remember Mama® is a fundraising event organized by Volunteers of America. It provides a wonderful day for elderly women who, for a variety of reasons, would otherwise be alone on Mother's Day. It also helps to support the wide variety of Volunteers of America services in Pennsylvania. I Remember Mama® is made possible through corporate sponsorships and individuals. Many who sponsor a mom do so in memory or tribute of their own mom or loved one. |
