Board Names New Treasurer
HARRISBURG, Pa., October 4, 2006 — Volunteers of America of Pennsylvania has elected William A. Rockwood Jr. as its treasurer. Rockwood, of Mechanicsburg, is a former director of finance for United Telephone Company of Pennsylvania after working with the company for 27 Carlisle-based company years.
“Bill brings a breadth of experience in finance, business processes and data systems to this important position,” said Alan Garner, president and chief executive officer of Volunteers of America of Pennsylvania.
The new treasurer is a member of St. Katherine Drexel parish. He and his wife Emily have seven children and six grandchildren.
“I am very pleased at the board's selecting me to be the treasurer of Volunteers of America of Pennsylvania,” said Rockwood. “In this role I will work closely with the staff to provide the board with assurances regarding the financial condition of the organization and verification that all funds are properly accounted for and used prudently for their intended purposes.”
Volunteers of America is a national, nonprofit, spiritually based organization providing local human services for individuals and communities.
Regional offices are maintained in Allentown, Harrisburg, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Wilkes-Barre.
