Clothing drive underway in Central PA

Clothing drive underway in Central PA

In these stormy economic times, the needs of those around us are rising at an alarming rate. Individuals and families that have never needed or asked for help before are finding themselves in uncharted waters.

To help families in need, Volunteers of America is conducting a clothing drive in Central Pennsylvania. Ready for spring cleaning? This is a great time to gather unused items to donate to the Volunteers of America Thrift Stores.

Volunteers of America has Thrift Stores in Mechanicsburg and Harrisburg. You can drop off your donations at either store or call (717) 766-2999 to arrange for a free home pick-up. If you live in Northeast, PA, call our Wilkes-Barre store at (570) 825-5261.

The Volunteers of America Thrift Stores are an important part of our ministry of service. They not only provide affordable clothing and household items, they also are an integral part of helping those faced with hardships caused by fire, domestic violence, serious illness or other catastrophic event. Hundreds of clothing and furniture vouchers are distributed every year to people affected by these situations, yet our inventory of clothing, house goods, bedding and furniture is at an all time low.

If you are interested in holding a clothing drive for Volunteers of America in Central PA, please call Diana Faust at 717-236-1440 or e-mail at dfaust@voapa.org. Join with other individuals, organizations, businesses, churches and others to get involved!

Art Communications Systems, Inc. (ACS) in Harrisburg, PA is a major participant in the Volunteers of America clothing drive. Park L. Cook, left, president and CEO of ACS, and Lauren Jacobs, sales and marketing coordinator, have motivated the employees to donate more than 2,000 items of clothing and accessories. Thank you ACS!
