New Thrift Store opens

Shop Volunteers of America’s newest thrift store in Wilkes-Barre
 
Volunteers of America of Pennsylvania celebrates the grand opening of its new store at 400 S. Main Street in Wilkes-Barre. The Volunteers of America Family Thrift Store features 17,000 square feet of retail space with storewide bargains.  
 
Steve Stanczak, Wilkes-Barre store manager, says “We have a great downtown location to serve the community. The store is big, brightly lit and customer friendly. The response from our shoppers has been tremendous!”  
 
Whether shopping for name-brand clothing, that perfect piece of furniture or fun-to-find bargains, chances are you will find what you are looking for at the Volunteers of America Family Thrift Store, offering a wide selection of new and gently used merchandise. 
 
“We sell donated clothing, furniture, appliances and household goods at very low prices,” says Dave Garlinger, Jr., director of retail operations. “With an ever-changing inventory, many shoppers return on a weekly basis to look for hidden treasures as well as basic necessities.”
 
Customers love our super savings Monday through Friday. For example, shoppers can take advantage of a 50% off sale on all clothing, shoes, linen and household items every Monday. And everything in our stores is half price the last Wednesday of every month.
 
An ideal place to shop for the whole family, the store offers many contemporary styles of clothes, shoes and accessories. All items are attractively displayed and dressing rooms are available for customer convenience. 
 
In addition to the store in Wilkes-Barre, Volunteers of America Store has another store on the Carlisle Pike at Silver Spring Rd. in Mechanicsburg and a third store at 2550 Paxton Street in Harrisburg.  
 
Both stores are stocked with merchandise donated by generous area residents and businesses. We currently need clothing, electronics, appliances, tools, cookware and gently used furniture, including bedding and linens. Items can be dropped off at the stores or free local pick-up can be arranged by calling 570-829-5100 in Northeast Pennsylvania or 717-766-2999 in Central Pennsylvania.

Monday - Friday    9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Saturday                 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Sunday                    noon to 5 p.m.
