Volunteers of America of Pennsylvania to honor Doug Neidich
Volunteers of America of Pennsylvania will honor Harrisburg entrepreneur Doug Neidich for outstanding service to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania at its inaugural Tribute Dinner to be held at the Hilton Harrisburg on June 17 at 6:30 p.m. Ralph Klinepeter, Jr., president of Pyramid Construction Services, Inc., will serve as the Dinner Chairman.
Mr. Neidich is the chief executive officer of GreenWorks Development, a real estate development company engaged in building energy- and culturally-sustainable integrated communities in urban-revitalized areas in Central Pennsylvania. He is also the president of Solarity, a firm involved in the development of thin-film organic photovoltaic cells. Prior to his current positions, Neidich was the general manager of Amphenol InterCon Systems.
Founder of InterCon Systems, a developer and manufacturer of high-density, high-speed electronic connector systems, Mr. Neidich took the company from the garage to more than $20 million in sales before selling it to the Amphenol Corporation. The holder of 25 U.S. and numerous foreign patents in the electronic connector field, Neidich held engineering positions at AMP and DuPont/Berg Electronics prior to founding InterCon.
Mr. Neidich serves on the board of Pinnacle Health System, the Pennsylvania Board of Trustees of the Nature Conservancy and the WITF board in Harrisburg. He also serves on the Board of Advisors of the Business Leadership School of the Harrisburg Area Community College and is a Trustee Emeritus of Harrisburg University.
The Tuesday Club of Harrisburg recently named Neidich as the first recipient of the John O. Vartan Memorial Award. In 2008, the Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC presented Neidich with the Entrepreneur of the Year Award which honors an individual for extraordinary achievement in developing a business concept, executing it, and continually innovating and driving business.

Volunteers of America of Pennsylvania serves more than 26,000 people each year across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania including infants, children and adolescents that have been abused; individuals and families in crisis; pregnant teens and teenage mothers; persons with disabilities; individuals with severe, chronic mental illness; at-risk children and youth; families and elderly individuals with limited incomes; neglected and or exploited children with behavioral challenges and educational deficits; entrepreneurship for individuals with disabilities, as well as those in need of employment.
These services are provided through a variety of programs and facilities such as 196 units of affordable housing, a foster care program, a residential treatment facility, thrift stores, a child development center, supportive living, after school programs, a business incubator for individuals with disabilities, transportation, and a variety of others.
