Volunteers of America seeking businesses, groups to collect toys

You can brighten the holidays for children in need!

Volunteers of America is looking for individuals, churches, rganizations and companies to help with its annual Christmas Toy Drive for needy children in Dauphin, Cumberland and Perry Counties.

“We want to collect about 3,500 toys this fall to serve an estimated 1,000 children at Christmas,” explained Alan R. Garner, president and CEO.

Individuals can place new, unwrapped toys in the special Volunteers of America toy collection box.  A business or organization can serve as a collection site and Volunteers of America will provide the toy collection box.  To find the closest collection site or to request a toy collection box, call 717-236-1440.

In Harrisburg, toys can be dropped off at the Volunteer of America office, 2112 Walnut Street.  In Mechanicsburg, toys can be dropped off at the Thrift Store on the Carlisle Pike at Silver Spring Road.

Individuals, organizations and businesses can also make a monetary donation to support the Toy Drive, which has been a Volunteers of America tradition for more than 80 years in Central Pennsylvania.
