Caring for Kids in Our Community
A program to prevent crime and substance abuse by providing positive activities for children and youth at-risk in the Lower Allegheny Valley. The program provides a computer center; Steop-It-Up accelerated reading activity; gym recreation days; summer enrichment series, including cultural and educational outings; computer access to low-income families; the Children First Internet Essentials laptop and internet service for students and low income families; community service opportunity for teems court ordered and for graduation requirements; and Operation Backpack.
The goal of All of Us Care is to prevent crime and substance abuse by providing positive activities for children and youth at-risk during out-of-school time. Through these services, staff and volunteers accomplish the following:
- Help youth recognize their potential through positive relationships with caring, responsible adults
- Reinforce the value of education by encouraging out-of-school reading and enabling access to technology
- Bring awareness to the resources and needs in the community through volunteer opportunities for youth
- Strengthen social skills that will help youth succeed in the future
