Across the country Volunteers of America works to prevent and end homelessness for individuals and families, reaching out to homeless individuals through street outreach and mobile outreach services.
Volunteers of America of Pennsylvania has two programs specifically addressing the problem of homelessness, both located in Wilkes-Barre.
The goal of the first is to provide safe, affordable housing for young adults, ages 18 to 25, who are struggling and at risk for homelessness.
The second is a transitional housing program for young adults at risk of being homeless. It is expected to welcome its first resident in early 2007.
