Volunteers of America Stores -- Where smart shopping begins!

Thrift Store facade.

Whether shopping for name-brand clothing, that perfect piece of furniture, antique, or fun-to-find bargains, chances are you will find what you are looking for at the Volunteers of America Stores at 400 S. Main in Wilkes-Barre, or on the Carlisle Pike at Silver Spring Rd. in Mechanicsburg.

2web.jpg Easy to get to, the Volunteers of America Stores offer a wide selection of new and gently used merchandise.  More than 2,500 items are added to the floor each day, including 1,000 clothing items for children, teens, men and women.
If you are trying to stay in fashion without breaking your budget, our stores offer many contemporary styles of clothes, shoes and accessories.  They are great places to shop for the whole family!  You’ll find everything from toys to large-print books. Teens shop for the latest fashions.
Students come to buy vintage or worn jeans.  Young families find well-made furniture and appliances.  Antique lovers are picking up hard-to-find collectibles at modest prices.  Shoppers keep returning because of the ever-changing selections.  All items are attractively displayed and dressing rooms are available for customer convenience.

Clocks are popular items at the Thrift Store. Antiques and toys are also abundant.
The Volunteers of America Stores also feature a wide selection of appliances, household goods, toys and games, bikes, tools, bedding and much more.

The stores are also an important part of our mission to help people in emergency situations.

“We provide thousands of dollars worth of free clothing, furniture and appliances to individuals and families in hard times, said Alan R. Garner, president of Volunteers of America of Pennsylvania.  People in need are referred to us by social workers, ministers and other sources.  With their input, we determine what is needed and issue a voucher for those in need to come in and choose what they need from the merchandise on the floor.”

Our stores are completely stocked with merchandise donated by generous area residents.  We convert donated items into hope and promise for people in need.  Every time you donate, you will feel good, knowing that the sale of each item supports our programs such as affordable housing for seniors, subsidized housing for adults diagnosed with mental illness, and promoting self-sufficiency for the homeless and others overcoming personal crisis.

Items are displayed for sale.
