Volunteers of America provides nationally recognized programs that support people with disabilities.
In Wilkes-Barre and Wyoming Valley, our specially equipped Dial-A-Driver shuttle vans provide transportation for the elderly and disabled who have no other means of transportation to medical appointments, shopping, senior centers, and other quality-of-life destinations.
Our Pittsburgh Disability Employment Project for Freedom program is a business directed training resulting in competitive employment for people with disabilities. The program is a business driven education-to-work program that departs from conventional training programs by reversing the typical model and focusing on the human resource needs of the business community, and then providing a matching training program to prepare candidates to fill these needs.
Our Working Order small business incubator in Pittsburgh supports entrepreneurship for individuals with disabilities and others seeking to be self-employed.
In addition, the Entrepreneurial Resource Directory provides easy access to resources across the Commonwealth for individuals who wish to be self-employed.
