YEP Summer Youth Café

The Youth Empowerment Project presents Summer Youth Café

Volunteers of America of Pennsylvania’s Youth Empowerment Project of Sharpsburg (YEP) is a new Summer Food Service Sponsor for the Lower Allegheny Valley area. With Summer Youth Café sites in Sharpsburg, Millvale, and Blawnox, YEP is feeding youth ages 18 and under who need meals this summer.

Civically engaged YEP students are part of the kitchen team assembling sandwiches, packaging meals, readying items for delivery, and distributing meals onsite.* These middle school students are learning valuable job skills such as punctuality, responsibility, attention to detail, and safe food handling instruction.

YEP is grateful for the opportunity to engage students during this period of social isolation, and we are extremely proud of our students for getting involved in their community to help their neighbors during this crisis.

We are thankful to our valuable partners at Niagara Cares, The Pittsburgh Foundation, No Kid Hungry, Wesbanco, and the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank for funding for the Summer Youth Café. We want to extend a special thank you to the office of State Representative Sara Innamorato for the support of her team towards this effort.

YEP will provide free meals through August 14, 2020, at the following locations:
